Frequently asked questions

How these lists are built, and how to read them.

How are these EV rankings put together?
Each list is generated from the manufacturer specs in our database — things like EPA/WLTP range, battery capacity, peak charging rate, power output and MSRP. Cars are sorted by whichever metric defines that list, so "Longest Range" and "Fastest Charging" can surface very different vehicles.
How often is this updated for 2026?
We refresh these collections as new trims launch or manufacturers revise pricing and specs. If a model you expect to see is missing, it may not be in our database yet or may not qualify for that particular category.
Is "range" the real-world range I'll get?
Displayed range figures come from official test cycles (EPA or WLTP, depending on the model). Real-world range varies with temperature, driving style, speed and payload, and is usually somewhat lower than the rated figure, especially at highway speeds in cold weather.
What counts as "best value"?
Best-value rankings weigh price against what you get for it — range, power, battery size and equipment — rather than just picking the cheapest option. It's meant for buyers who want the most car per dollar, not the lowest sticker price.
Do prices include incentives or destination fees?
Listed prices are base MSRP before any regional tax credits, incentives or destination charges, since those vary by location and change frequently. Always confirm final out-the-door pricing with a dealer.
Can a car appear on more than one list?
Yes. A model with both long range and strong value, for example, can reasonably appear in the Longest Range and Best Value collections at the same time.
